Toyota recalls nearly 2 million vehicles against fire risk!

Ana sayfa / Technology

We are used to automotive companies recalling their vehicles at certain periods. We know that many brands, from Tesla to Volkswagen, have previously warned their customers for various reasons. Toyota finally joined this caravan. Almost 2 million Toyota Rav4 models were found to pose a fire risk.

Warning sent to 1.9 million Toyota Rav4 customers

Toyota has issued a new warning to its customers in the last hours. Accordingly, 1.9 million Rav4 owners should urgently contact authorized services. It was stated that loose battery connections could create a fire risk.

The recall announced in the US affects certain Rav4 models manufactured between 2013 and 2018. According to Toyota, some replacement 12-volt batteries used in SUVs have smaller top dimensions than others. The battery retaining clamp can cause the battery to move if not tightened properly.

Users are concerned about the security of personal data. Europe, on the other hand, is preparing to take precautions against Meta's targeted advertising practice.

If the battery is not stationary, it can allow a terminal to contact the clamp, causing a short circuit. This has the potential to create a fire risk in the engine. Moving the battery can also damage other components by coming into contact with the cables.

Toyota has not said whether any fires or injuries have been caused by this problem. But the widespread recall suggests the risk is serious enough to require repairs. As part of the recall, Toyota dealers will replace the battery clamp, tray and terminal cover.

It should be noted that this decision was made in the US and does not affect customers in Turkey. Toyota announced that it has sent a warning to Rav4 owners about the issue, and customers will be informed after the repair procedure.
